Project Vietnam Foundation’s (PVNF) mission is to provide healthcare assistance to children at-risk from poor rural communities in Vietnam, and medical training to health professionals in Vietnam. Our ultimate goal is to improve the health of children especially the most vulnerable ones. PVNF has worked in 29 provinces of Vietnam since 1996. Following are some of the accomplishments of our volunteers with the generous support of our donors:
• Free surgical corrections for children with disfiguring deformities such as cleft lip & palate, and eye defects to more than 1000 children over the years.
• Medical exam and treatment for over 40,000 needy children and families in rural communities of all regions of Vietnam.
• Oral health services and vision care for over 5,000 children at remote rural schools.
• Assistance on national disaster and relief as needed.
• Successful recommendation of a national policy for Vitamin K injection after birth to prevent brain hemorrhage in newborn babies.
• Training on Newborn Care and Resuscitation since 2005. Our program to train health personnel to save babies right at birth has received approval by the Ministry of Health last year.

In addition to our medical mission trips, we started a very successful Summer Service Camp in 2007. Our group of 60 US students join with Vietnam students on humanitarian projects. The group in 2009 worked diligently:
• 4,000 people were treated in poor communities of Khanh Hoa province
• 1,000 children received oral healthcare
• 4 compassion houses were built for indigent homeless families
• 1 school and 1 playground were rehabilitated
• 4 orphanages and handicapped centers received gifts of toys, books, and school supply.
.
Summer Service Camp 2010 will be July 1st, 2010 – July 15th, 2010 in Hue and Quang Nam provinces. We are fundraising to purchase medicines for the clinics, and supplies/gifts to donate to needy children and families. We are also seeking for the following items:
• Toys and school supplies for school children and orphans.
• Posters on education, healthcare prevention for rural schools and clinics.
• School sport supplies.
• Medicine, dental care supplies (toothpaste, toothbrush), various supplies (for crowd control) and a portable PA system.

You can donate by sending a check, giving it to a volunteer, or online through our website. The gifts are tax-deductible and you will be provided with a receipt for tax purpose. We hope to count on you as our partners for improving the lives of the needy families and children in Vietnam. Please visit our website www.pvnf.org for information on our work.
